I have been in business for 10 years in FL, I am considering a couple of ideas to help grow my business. I am considering joing the FAIA, to receive access to their markets and information. Is anyone a member and found the membership to be truly beneficial. Also is getting my cpcu designation a good idea, does it help with getting larger accounts. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

All your ideas are good and will have a benefit to you as you move forward. What about offering your clients a different value added service than your competitors? We offer a service called, workers compensation premium recovery. It is a contingency based service that we perform completely off-site. Our program is designed to uncover mistakes made by insurance carriers as well as the Rating Boards from your client or prospects past to the present. We have the mistakes corrected, have the experience rating revised and have the carriers return any premium that you paid based on those mistakes. Everyone gets paid, even you! Give me a call if you want to know more. Jennie, I am a long time member of FAIA. They are great for their education program, lobbying for us agents, the Florida Insurance Research Library, ets. For gaining access to great markets, commercial account placement help, other support for your agency, I would explore www.siaa4u.net. Click on locations and contact the Master agency for your county. I am a 13 year member of siaa and recommend them highly. Rod

Hi: State Farm is getting ready to leave Florida. There is no bigger opportunity to grow for agencies that can find personal lines markets who will write some business. Do you have some?

Jennine, Because the industry is constantly changing, I believe both diversity and focus are important in growing your buisness. I believe that a large number of small to medium size clients provides more stability than a smaller number of large clients. Therefore, you want to maintain a profitable volume of commercial lines business. To do this, I would encourage referrals from both clients and non-clients. In addition, I would develop a niche marketing program that focuses on an under served market. Inject your personality into your marketing. Clients like to work with personable, relatable agents. Be yourself. Don't sell on price, sell the value of your service; which includes your recommendation. Find products and/or services that makes a difference to your client. We have unique UPAY-As-You-Go program. With UPAY-As-You-Go, premium is based on actual payroll, not estimates, eliminating annual premium down payments. This will make a difference when cash flow is a issue for clients. Thus, adding value to you and your agency. As a program administrator, UPA offers monoline workers' compensation through a national network of independent agents.UPA also caters to all types of class codes including high mod's. Please refer to class code eligibility list to check eligibility on our website at www.UnisourcePA.com . If I can be of further assistance, please contact me at 678-294-5459. I welcome the opportunity to discuss with you how UPA can help grow your business and serve your clients. Andy Kohler Andy.Kohler@UnisoucePA.com
