Thank you for your inquiry about our Historic Property Program.
The Program writes commercial historic properties exclusively on Zurich paper, at Agreed Value with Historic Replacement Cost valuation.
Eligibility includes:
- Properties individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places or a state or local register
- Contributing buildings in a historic district
- Built before 1950 and meeting the National Parks criteria for registry evaluation as follows: (a) is associated with events that have made a significant contribution to the broad patterns of our history; or (b) are associated with the lives or persons significant in our past; or (c) embody distinctive characteristics of type, period or method of construction or represent the work of master craftsman, or that possess the high artistic values, or that represent a significant and distinguishable entity whose component may lack individual distinction; or (d) have yielded, or may be likely to yield, information important in prehistory or history.
Although we can consider package coverage for most commercial, non-manufacturing exposures that are occupied, our target classes of business are:
- Hotels or inns
- Museums
- Preservation Organizations
- Real Estate and retail property (residential and commercial)
- Restaurants
- Theatres
Guidelines for habitational exposures are:
- Construction: MNC or better
- Protection: Fully Sprinklered or CSA including Fire/Smoke and preferably Sprinkler Leakage
- Designation: building must be on a registry or a contributing building within a historic district
- Water Damage Deductible: $100,000 minimum
