Nonprofits Insurance Alliance (NIA) currently insures more than 26,000+ nonprofits in 32 states and the District of Columbia, including providing coverage for the following types of schools and education-based nonprofits:
- Public Charter Schools: NIA offers coverage to charter schools that operate as autonomous, tuition-free public schools — such as Head Start programs, performing arts schools, and vocational trade schools. Curriculum is typically based on performance rather than procedures/processes.
- Private Schools: NIA's coverage offerings for private schools is limited to those whose primary purpose is to serve special needs or the underprivileged.
- NOTE: NIA does not write coverage for sports exposures, so the school or nonprofit's focus should be academic.
For all member-insureds, NIA offers stable liability coverages and access to free/highly subsidized risk management tools, resources, and services.
Coverages include: General liability, directors and officers, business auto, non-owned hired auto, property, auto physical damage, improper sexual conduct, social service professional, liquor liability.
Organizations must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to be insured.
