What I am looking to insure is how to protect my mom's assets should the caretaker get into an accident while driving my Mom to the grocery store, doctor appointments etc.. The thought is that if there is an accident and, let's say, the caretaker injures someone and can't work or gets sued. Since this was in the course of her work, and my mom is her employer, the assumption is that she could easily be sued, thus leaving her open to risk on her assets.
Another agent that I know who has been in the business for decades told me that a long time ago, Safeco used to offer non-owned / hired coverage on the personal line side. They stopped offering a while ago. It tells me that, at some point, a carrier thought it was an appropriate offering.
So is anyone else is doing it?
