What has been the average commission split in the industry, for a producer who is sub-contracted for P&C policies . Also, for renewals too. I'm in Nevada.

I don't know about other states, or other agencies, but in my agency in Utah we do a 50/50 commission split. It seems to work well, and we haven't had any problems with it.

I don't personally recommend "sub-brokering" due to the exposure you create for yourself and recommend you work as the broker with the sub-broker taking on the role as fee based consultant (win-win without the E&O exposure).

What exposure is created by using a broker to access carriers you do not have?

Fee based consultant? How would that work? Does that mean you do not get renewal commissions. This doesn't sound very profitable for the "consultant". Am I wrong?
