What is the best way to get appointments with Personal Auto companies?
Im a brand new agent starting a brand new agency in UT. Im yet to open my doors.
I have heard most of the carriers want to see that I have some premium on the books before they will appointment me, but how do I get premium on the books without appointments.

Thanks for your help.

We are a local group in Utah called Utah Insurance Agency Alliance.  We are part of SIAA, www.siaa.net.  We have helped many agents start their own independent agency here in Utah.  We would be happy to meet with you and show you how our program works.  My number is 801-717-2284 and my name is Jason.  I look forward to hearing from you.

This looks quiet good. This is the perfect use of forums. People can meet up their needs.

The auto market and auto insurance agents are directly proportioanl to each other.

You may want to consider joining a Cluster or Association.  I believe that Iroquois and SiAA are good values. Very different but good values.
There's a list of all these types of relationships at www.agentequity.com or www.agencyequity.com

OH, also, think about some of the National MGA's like www.appund.com or www.arrowheadgrp.com  They have 4 or 5 personal lines carriers.  You'll get an 'agents' commission but not the full normal commission that a typical agency will obtain.  But, right now, you just need access and you have to give up a few points for that until you're significant enough to attract direct contracts.
