We are a new firm and want to start off with a good agency management system that is on a hosted or ASP platform. We are familiar with the Applied Systems and AMS products, but was wondering if anyone has experience with a seasoned full capability product . We are especially interested in a product that will allow us to be paperless from day 1 and allow the attachment of sent and received emails from Outlook. Any suggestions?

There are many systems out there but if you want a hosted system, then the systems are just a few. The Nexsure system we used can be used with any and all Microsoft products and is fully integrated with all of the Microsoft, something that makes changes in the future much easier in our opinion. They have good download capabilities and e-services that make life much easier overall. I know of several small agencies 1-5 users and they overall like the system. Good Luck with your odyssey.

Speaking from experience, having been pretty much forced to use AMS360 Online for the last 3 years due to an assocation contract, I would not recommend it. It's slow, even on its good days. Time lag between screen changes is horrible. We have good equipment, a full T-1, and it's still awful. Take a good hard look before you buy. Talk to other agencies in your area, see what they're doing, find out what their CSRs and accounting people think. Yes, they all have problems, and there's no perfect one, but I wouldn't recommend AMS360 to anyone.

I used DORIS for the 1st seven years of my agency. After it was purchased by Applied, it got progressly worse. This year, I switched to Eclipse, from NASASOFT. It is a very easy to use and cheap to own systems. http://www.nasasoft.com Check them out.
