Does anyone have experience they could share (good or bad) with Applied's Equity Comp product?  This would be the standalone WC product for larger accounts that does not require the payroll service.

Any input woudl be appreciated!

We are a wholesaler for Applied underwriters. In our experience with the carrier the Equity Comp is a great program as you can lock the policy in for three years without any changes to rates or x-mods. We have several accounts where the agent had a hard time selling the policy and especially locking in the policy for three years but the insured's are happy they did. If you have any question on this please free to give me a call. Greg Santolucito (760) 947-5500 x 301 GSS Insurance Services

I want to challenge Greg's comments above.  In Work Comp, you cannot lock in rates and x-mods.  Each year, the NCCI and/or Indepedent Bureau of your state promulgates rates by class code and the employers' x-mod.  There is no such thing as a 3-year rate & x-mod lock. Of course, a carrier can do other creative things with schedule rating, filed deviations, loss-senstive plans and their Loss Cost Multipliers to off-set changes in the annual rates/x-mods.  Equity Comp is positioned to work on larger accounts via loss-sensitive programs, but still has to work within the confines of the State's Work Comp statutes & rate filings...
