Carfax has created a new online source – Crashdocs.org – to instantly access automobile accident reports from police departments. Through one online spot, crash reports are available from police departments across the U.S. and  from a rapidly growing number of law enforcement agencies. Insurers, lawyers and other interested parties can order the reports they need and view some of them immediately with no added convenience fees.

Crashdocs’ e-commerce platform does require start-up costs, maintenance fees, or hardware/software to buy for police departments to be included.

Carfax, a unit of IHS Inc., is a vehicle history provider for used car buyers, sellers and the automotive industry. The company maintains a database comprising over 14 billion vehicle history records from more than 92,000 sources worldwide.

Crashdocs.org provides law enforcement agencies with a no-cost e-commerce solution for the distribution of official accident reports. Based in Englewood, Colo., IHS is a global source of information, insight and analytics in the automotive industry and other areas of business.
